Town Crest Resume

The Grant of Arms and Chain of Office was on Friday April 1st 1960 to The Rural District of Crickhowell, by Sir William Parker, Lord Lieutenant of the County of Brecknock.

When the Beaufort Chambers was sold by Powys County Council the crest in its case was taken down and stored.  Moving the Town Council to the CRiC building for meetings, there was no space to hang the crest. The case was massive in size with locking doors. The offer was made by Mr David Jeremiah to construct a new case using local timbers, this has now been completed and CRiC have agreed to it hanging in the Conference room. The Crickhowell Town Council has since acquired the Grant of Arms in it’s own name.

The Crest in its new casing was dedicated in honour of the late Brian Couzens who served 45 years as a Councillor to Crickhowell and was unveiled by Mrs Anne  Couzens and their son Richard at a special ceremony on Tuesday 18th January 2011.
